Sermorelin for Recovery and Muscle Growth — Performance & Recovery
GHRH analog (formerly FDA-approved for pediatrics, now compounded only) for stimulating natural GH to enhance recovery and muscle growth.
Overview
Sermorelin is a 29-amino acid GHRH fragment that stimulates the pituitary to produce natural GH. REGULATORY STATUS: Was FDA-approved 1997-2008 for pediatric GH deficiency; discontinued for COMMERCIAL reasons (NOT safety). Now ONLY available via compounding pharmacies. NEVER FDA-approved for adult use or athletic enhancement. KEY ADVANTAGE: Effects regulated by somatostatin feedback, making overdose difficult unlike exogenous HGH; promotes physiological pulsatile GH release. ADULT EVIDENCE: Limited small RCTs (n=19, 16 weeks) showed men gained lean mass (+1.26 kg), improved well-being, elevated IGF-I. NIH trial (5 months) showed cognitive and sleep benefits. ATHLETIC USE: BANNED by most sports organizations as performance-enhancing substance. CONTRAST: Unlike FDA-approved Tesamorelin with QC manufacturing, sermorelin has no FDA quality oversight.
