Peppermint Oil Enteric-Coated — Supplements
Enteric-coated peppermint oil capsules providing targeted antispasmodic relief for irritable bowel syndrome.
Overview
Enteric-coated peppermint oil capsules deliver L-menthol and other terpenes directly to the small and large intestine, where they exert antispasmodic effects via calcium channel blockade in smooth muscle. Multiple meta-analyses of RCTs demonstrate significant improvement in IBS global symptoms, abdominal pain, and bloating compared to placebo. ACG guidelines include peppermint oil as a recommended treatment for IBS. Enteric coating is essential to prevent gastric release, which can cause heartburn.
