Fiber Psyllium Husk — Supplements
Soluble viscous fiber that forms a gel matrix for cholesterol binding, glycemic control, and bowel regularity.
Overview
Psyllium husk (Plantago ovata) is a soluble, viscous, gel-forming fiber with one of the strongest evidence bases among dietary fibers. It has FDA-approved health claims for cholesterol reduction and cardiovascular risk reduction. Meta-analyses demonstrate significant LDL cholesterol lowering (~7%), improved glycemic control in type 2 diabetes, and normalization of bowel habits in both constipation and diarrhea. Psyllium acts as a prebiotic and supports gut barrier function.
