Collagen Peptides — Supplements
Hydrolyzed collagen providing bioactive peptides for connective tissue, skin, and joint support.
Overview
Collagen peptides (hydrolyzed collagen) are enzymatically broken down collagen proteins, primarily types I and III, with molecular weights optimized for gastrointestinal absorption. Hydroxyproline-containing dipeptides and tripeptides are absorbed intact and accumulate in skin and cartilage, where they stimulate fibroblast and chondrocyte activity. Meta-analyses of RCTs demonstrate improvements in skin elasticity, hydration, and wrinkle depth, as well as modest benefits for osteoarthritis symptoms and tendon/ligament health.
Indications
- Skin elasticity and hydration
- Joint and cartilage support
- Tendon and ligament health
- Bone density support
- Wound healing acceleration
Mechanism of Action
Hydrolysis produces Pro-Hyp and Gly-Pro-Hyp peptides absorbed intact through intestinal epithelium
