Astaxanthin — Supplements
Potent carotenoid antioxidant derived from microalgae with anti-inflammatory and skin-protective properties.
Overview
Astaxanthin is a xanthophyll carotenoid produced primarily by the microalga Haematococcus pluvialis. It exhibits antioxidant activity 6,000 times greater than vitamin C and 550 times greater than vitamin E due to its unique molecular structure spanning the cell membrane bilayer. Clinical studies demonstrate benefits for skin elasticity, UV protection, cardiovascular health, and exercise recovery. It also shows anti-inflammatory properties via NF-kB pathway modulation.
